The Ferrari Club of America has 16 Regions throughout North America, and 28 Chapters within these regions. This is the official website for the Ohio Chapter
On July 17th we visited the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance, a first time event for the Cincinnati area. About 20 people attended, with a number of interesting cars, including a 430 from Columbus that saw us at our rest stop rendezvous (check out the photo) and joined us on our trip. Kerry Fitzpatrick met us at the gate to the Concours and ensured a speedy entrance and everyone made it to our designated parking area. Our cars were generating as much interest as some in the show. Ferrari was a featured marque, and there were many striking Ferraris in the show; Andy Manganaro had two cars entered. Besides the Ferraris, there were many other makes and models to hold our interest, including some boats. We had lunch next to our parking area, and with the choice of Butt Rub BBQ or Bronte Bistro, everyone found something good to eat. After lunch members continued to check out all the eye candy to their heart’s content, and gradually departed to head home. It was a great time. I want to thank Kerry Fitzpatrick for helping make this event happen.
WOW! OMG! NO WAY! AM I DREAMING! These are just a few of the expressions that were heard on June 27, 2010 as 28 of the most Beautiful Ferraris rolled into Little Italy in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cleveland Region once again made their annual drive from Joyce Miller and Robert Hicks’ house through the Chagrin Valley Metro Parks to Maxi’s Restaurant. This event was ”sold out” so fast that I am sorry to say we had to turn 8 cars away. But, those of you who did not make it this year do not fret. The Council of Little Italy is so excited to see us each year they will work on more parking for next year. The participates enjoyed some of the best Authentic Italian pizza, chicken marsala, pasta, salads and homemade bread there is in Cleveland. Of course the Cleveland Rep. showed no mercy on one of her “guys” and made him the recipient of many jokes.
Sorry David Nelson, I really do like you!
I would like to thank Susie Nelson (club photographer), JoAnna Eggett, Amy Miller (registration), Scott Miller (parking & staging cars), Beth Ashe (scrap book) and everyone else who helped to make this event the success that it has grown to be. Thank you Maxi’s staff for your patience with 50 “crazy” fun loving Ferrari enthusiast. Thank you MVP parking for keeping the cars together and providing security.

Our first outing of the year was May 1st, a drive through the rolling hills and twisting roads of western Ohio and eastern Indiana. We met at Dynamic Motorsports former location and despite the rain, nearly 25 people showed up, from as far away as Columbus. Two people couldn’t go on the drive but the rest of us headed out on the interesting route planned by Bob Miller and Ian DeBarros. The rains came, went, came, went and ultimately stayed with us most of the day, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of all who attended.
Following the drive, we had a nice lunch with excellent service at the family owned Kenzies At the Mounds restaurant. Even some menu items were named for family members, it was a fun place to have a good meal and talk. Steve Thomas of Escort gave an interesting speech about various types of speed detection used by the police, and the capabilities of Escort’s latest products. Steve was also kind enough to have a number of prizes for the quiz he gave at the end; it paid to have been listening. We discussed our upcoming events for the year, and a number of fun activities are planned over the next 6 months.
The photos below give you an idea of the fun that was had by all.
Joyce’s Cleveland bunch along with some of the Akron/Canton FCA members had a great time Sunday. Starting with brunch at Puferbellys in Kent followed by a drive to Chardon. A special thanks to Diane & Dave Gardener for their help organizing the brunch. Also, I want to thank Chas for brining his Stadale so John Ashe could listen to the exhaust note. Judging from the look on John’s face there will be one in John’s garage soon.

Waiting for Chas to fire-up his Stadale
Thanks Diane and Dave for your help!

Ferrari is reporting that its 599XX set a record on the legendary Nürburgring. The company says it is the first time a production-derived sports car has bested the 7-minute barrier on the classic 12.9-mile Nordschleife circuit, lapping it in 6 minutes, 58.16 seconds.
