PDX Technical Inspection Form-2010

Our first outing of the year was May 1^st, a drive through the rolling hills and twisting roads of western Ohio and eastern Indiana. We met at Dynamic Motorsports former location and despite the rain, nearly 25 people showed up, from as far away as Columbus. Two people couldn’t go on the drive but the rest of us headed out on the interesting route planned by Bob Miller and Ian DeBarros. The rains came, went, came, went and ultimately stayed with us most of the day, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of all who attended.

Following the drive, we had a nice lunch with excellent service at the family owned Kenzies At the Mounds restaurant. Even some menu items were named for family members, it was a fun place to have a good meal and talk. Steve Thomas of Escort gave an interesting speech about various types of speed detection used by the police, and the capabilities of Escort’s latest products. Steve was also kind enough to have a number of prizes for the quiz he gave at the end; it paid to have been listening. We discussed our upcoming events for the year, and a number of fun activities are planned over the next 6 months.

2010 Pufferbellys and Drive to Bass Lake.

Joyce’s Cleveland bunch along with some of the Akron/Canton FCA members had a great time Sunday. Starting with brunch at Puferbellys in Kent followed by a drive to Chardon.  A special thanks to Diane & Dave Gardener for their help organizing the brunch. Also, I want to thank Chas for brining his Stadale so John Ashe could listen to the exhaust note. Judging from the look on John’s face there will be one in John’s garage soon.

Ferrari is reporting that its 599XX set a record on the legendary Nürburgring. The company says it is the first time a production-derived sports car has bested the 7-minute barrier on the classic 12.9-mile Nordschleife circuit, lapping it in 6 minutes, 58.16 seconds.

CARS & COFFEE 2010 Kick-off

Gathering at the Boardwalk Cafe on the lake in the Quay 55 building, right off the Shoreway. Come join us with your sports, exotic, vintage, or muscle car for an informal gathering, great food and caffeinated drinks, and a fun drive afterwards.

Cars & Coffee will be held the 1^st and 3^rd Saturday of the month through October.
We will also be doing informal drives, Poker Runs, track days, and other fun automotive events TBA throughout the summer.
